Drug paraphernalia charges can lead to considerable life issues

Many drug charges come with considerable time in jail. When you think of these charges, you might think of possession or sales. While these are very common charges, they aren't the only ones that are associated with drugs. Some people who use, manufacture or distribute drugs might also have drug paraphernalia on them. This could lead to criminal charges.

Anyone who is involved with drugs in any manner should understand what these charges mean. Most importantly, you should know that you don't have to be in possession of drugs or have them close to you to face paraphernalia charges. Instead, you only have to have items that are typically associated with drug use.

Since some paraphernalia items are used for other purposes, the circumstances will come into the picture in these cases. For example, you might face a drug paraphernalia charge if you have a razor blade, small baggies, and digital scale on the table. All of these are used to get drugs ready to sell. If that digital scale was in the kitchen cabinet, you probably wouldn't face charges since it would appear as if you were using it for cooking purposes.

You can't think of paraphernalia charges as being less serious than other drug charges. Even a paraphernalia conviction would be a mark on your criminal record. This could have an impact on your ability to get a job or find a place to rent. For this reason, you need to make sure that you are ready to battle the charges against you. This can be a challenge, but you are entitled to be able to present a defense strategy.
